First Baptist Church is a welcoming group of followers of Jesus Christ! We are a multi-generational fellowship with a focus on carrying out the Great Commission established by Jesus himself as recorded in Matthew 28. While striving to be committed followers of Jesus, we worship God in fellowship with one another and seek to spend time and energy for personal spiritual growth. Helping to equip fellow believers to live out a spirit-filled life will impact the lost with the Good News of Jesus, encourage fellow believers, and provide a helping hand to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of others regardless of race, gender, or social status. This is part and parcel of the mission of the church as demonstrated in the New Testament of the Bible.

Our Purpose

First Baptist Church exists for the purpose to worship God and to be a fellowship of believers that seeks to lead lost persons to Christ, to train and nurture Christians toward spiritual maturity, to minister with compassion to human needs, and to support missions locally and globally through prayer, participation, giving, and proclamation.

Our History

First Baptist was born out of a need for a local congregation on Florida’s Treasure Coast to meet for worship and serve to let others know about Jesus of Nazareth. In 1890 the church was officially organized at their original location in downtown Fort Pierce. While pastors, and even the location of the church buildings, changed in the 130+ years of First Baptist, the goal of the church remains the same as stated in the church’s Mission Statement.

Throughout it’s 130 years, this Christ-centered fellowship has been able to share Christ with thousands of individuals locally. Over the years, many became part of the fellowship at First Baptist Church. Members have also contributed in a variety of ways to make Jesus known to other parts of our state, country, and the world. Today, this community of believers continues on the same course of ministry, while reaching out to neighbors and nations around the globe that are in need spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

God is not done with First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce. He continues to use the members of this congregation to impact the lost, edify the church of Jesus Christ, and nurture the next generation of Christians to continue to carry out the great commission found in Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. . .

The legacy of First Baptist Church is not in our name, buildings, or reputation, it is in the lives of those who continue to be impacted by Jesus Christ. This is demonstrated through the church’s worship, Biblical teaching, missions, community involvement, and evangelism.
