First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce

This week we continue in our sermon series. Love Never Fails

This theme based on 1 Corinthians chapters 8–14 weaves through Paul’s instruction on Christian liberty, worship, spiritual gifts, and church unity, emphasizing that love is the supreme virtue guiding all Christian conduct. Whether in denying ourselves for the sake of others (chapter 8), exercising our gifts within the body (chapters 12–14), or correcting disorder in worship, Paul repeatedly reminds the church that knowledge, eloquence, power, and even sacrifice are empty without love. Love is not merely a feeling but a self-giving action that seeks the good of others above self. It is patient, kind, humble, and enduring—and unlike spiritual gifts, it never fades or fails. Love is the heartbeat of the church and the mark of true spiritual maturity. This will be an exciting series of messages from God's word that will not only encourage us, but challenge us to love others more fully, and I love the Lord, our God with all our heart.

This Week's Message:

OUR CHURCH NEEDS EVERY BELIEVER TO USE THEIR GIFTS

In 1 Corinthians 12:12–31, the Apostle Paul compares the church to a human body, emphasizing that every believer is a vital and necessary part. Just as the body is one unit made up of many different parts—each with its own function—so the church is one body made up of many members, each uniquely gifted by God. No part is unimportant or unnecessary. Some may feel like they don’t matter because they aren’t seen or heard as much, but Paul makes it clear: every part has a God-given role, and every part matters. The eye needs the hand, the head needs the feet—each one has a job to do for the body to function properly.

This truth has major implications for our church today. Our church isn’t complete unless every member is actively using their spiritual gifts. Whether your gift is teaching, serving, encouraging, praying, giving, or showing mercy, God places believers in a local church for a reason. When one member doesn’t do their part, the whole body suffers. But when each person steps up and serves with love, the church grows stronger, more unified, and more effective in its mission. If you are a Christian you are not just a spectator—you are a necessary part of the body. Our church needs you.

We hope you can join us this Sunday. We look forward to seeing you.

“ . . . you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” — Ephesians 2:19-20

Scripture reminds us when a person becomes a follower of Jesus they are adopted into God’s Family - the Church is His family on earth!
