First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce

This week we begin our new sermon series. Holiness vs Hypocrisy

For the next few weeks, we will be discovering how the church can change its witness to a lost world by changing the way we live our lives as followers of Jesus Christ. God is a holy God, and he desires us to be holy through the power of the Holy Spirit and the righteousness given to us through his son Jesus Christ.

This Week's Message:
Holiness in Personal Conduct: Honoring God with Our Bodies (1 Corinthians 6:12–20)

In these verses, the Apostle Paul addresses a pressing issue in the Corinthian church: believers misusing their Christian liberty to justify sexual immorality. Paul reminds them that while some things may be “permissible,” not all things are beneficial or constructive—especially when it comes to personal conduct.

He clarifies that the body is not meant for sexual sin but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. Through faith in Christ, believers become spiritually united with Him. This means our physical bodies are no longer our own—they are members of Christ and temples of the Holy Spirit. To engage in immorality is not just a moral failing; it is a spiritual violation that dishonors God and disrespects the sacred space He now inhabits.

Paul’s powerful conclusion—You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body—serves as both a warning and a call to live differently. Christ’s death purchased us completely, and that includes our physical selves. Holiness, then, is not merely a matter of thought or belief—it is expressed in how we treat our bodies and how we live in the world.

So let me ask you today—how are you honoring God with your body? Are there areas of compromise, hidden habits, or relationships that need to come under Christ’s lordship? This passage isn’t about shame; it’s about restoration and purpose. God doesn’t just want your heart—He wants your whole self, because He redeemed all of you.

This week, take intentional steps to surrender your body to God’s glory:

  • Invite the Holy Spirit to search your life.

  • Set boundaries where needed.

  • Embrace spiritual disciplines that help you live with integrity and self-control.

Remember: your body is not ordinary—it is a temple. Let your conduct reflect the holiness of the One who lives within you.

We hope you can join us this Sunday. We look forward to seeing you.

“ . . . you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” — Ephesians 2:19-20

Scripture reminds us when a person becomes a follower of Jesus they are adopted into God’s Family - the Church is His family on earth!
