First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce

This week we begin our NEW sermon series. Love Never Fails

This theme based on 1 Corinthians chapters 8–14 weaves through Paul’s instruction on Christian liberty, worship, spiritual gifts, and church unity, emphasizing that love is the supreme virtue guiding all Christian conduct. Whether in denying ourselves for the sake of others (chapter 8), exercising our gifts within the body (chapters 12–14), or correcting disorder in worship, Paul repeatedly reminds the church that knowledge, eloquence, power, and even sacrifice are empty without love. Love is not merely a feeling but a self-giving action that seeks the good of others above self. It is patient, kind, humble, and enduring—and unlike spiritual gifts, it never fades or fails. Love is the heartbeat of the church and the mark of true spiritual maturity. This will be an exciting series of messages from God's word that will not only encourage us, but challenge us to love others more fully, and I love the Lord, our God with all our heart.

This Week's Message:
Love Lives for Others ( 1 Corinthians 8:1-13)

In 1 Corinthians 8:1–13 Paul addresses a debate in the church over eating food offered to idols. While some believers had the knowledge that idols were nothing and felt free to eat, others struggled with their past and were deeply wounded by such actions. Paul reminds the church family members that knowledge without love leads to pride, but true love builds up the body of Christ. Christian maturity isn’t about demanding our rights; it’s about using our freedom to protect and serve one another. In the family of God, we are called to consider how our actions affect the faith of others.

This kind of love puts others first. It prioritizes people over personal preferences, and relationships over our rights. Paul was willing to give up meat forever if it meant helping his brother avoid stumbling. This is the pattern of Christ, who laid aside His heavenly privileges for our sake. We are called to imitate that love—one that denies self, builds others up, and reflects Jesus. When we live this way, our love never fails—because it doesn’t live for self, it lives for others.

We warmly invite you to join us for worship as we explore this important and often misunderstood teaching. Come be encouraged by the truth of God’s Word, uplifted by fellowship, and strengthened in your walk with Christ.

We hope you can join us this Sunday. We look forward to seeing you.

“ . . . you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” — Ephesians 2:19-20

Scripture reminds us when a person becomes a follower of Jesus they are adopted into God’s Family - the Church is His family on earth!
